Proper diagnosis is essential because erectile dysfunction can be caused by health or psychologically-related factors, or both.
There are 3 types of oral medication on the market for erectile dysfunction (ED), namely sildenafil (Viagra) by Pfizer, Tadalafil (Cialis) by Eli Lily and vardenafil (Levitra) by Bayer. These 3 types of medication are taken orally and they work by increase the blood flow to the penis. These 3 types of medication are supplied on presciption basis.
Some brief episodes of mild side effects of these group of medications are headache, flushing,indigestion, nasal congestion and abnormal vision.
Caution should be exercised if one is on other heart medications. Do inform your doctor if you are having any other medical conditions or taking any other medications. Some medicines, such as nitrates which is used for the treatment for chest pain and other heart condition may interfere with the ED drugs. This combination will lead to a severe drop in your blood pressure, which may be difficult to treat.
Talk to your partner and your doctor if you suspect you are having ED. Do not self-medicate as it may worsen the condition.
